Humans can spend a lifetime trying to understand what God’s calling is for their lives. Pastor Gene Lingerfelt offers guidance on finding your calling in life through Jesus Christ and His Word.

“God does not choose people because of their ability, but because of their availability.” -Brother Andrew

At Faith Christian Center, Pastor Gene Lingerfelt is constantly receiving questions about how to find God’s calling for your life, and how to pay attention to the Lord when He speaks to you. One of the most important things Pastor Gene Lingerfelt reminds the congregation is to always be available to God with an open heart, ready to serve.

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” – Isaiah 6:8

“Part of understanding God’s calling for your life is always being in a place to serve and go,” explained Pastor Gene Lingerfelt. “You can’t hear God if you are closed off and unavailable. That’s why it’s so important to remain in fellowship with Christ on a daily basis.”

One of the best ways to remain in fellowship with God so that you can hear His calling for your life is through daily devotion and prayer. These are two great ways to always stay connected to God so that when He is ready to call you, you are available for Him to use you.

Many times it might be in small opportunities.  You could be at the grocery store and the Lord might speak to you to buy the groceries of the person ahead or behind you.  Or, God might put someone on your heart to bless.

The Best Way to Fellowship With God Says, Pastor Gene Lingerfelt

“There is something uniquely special about waking up each morning before the business of the day, and spending time getting to know God and hearing from Him,” explained Pastor Gene Lingerfelt. ”God works in moments where we are still and silent and can hear from Him clearly.”  That’s why Pastor Gene recommends that people always keep a note pad next to their bed so that when God speaks to them or gives them ideas, they can immediately write them down.

Another amazing way to learn God’s calling for your life is through fellowship with other believers.

Iron sharpens iron, and through connecting with other Christians, we are able to hear God speak through their wisdom and advice, which is guided by the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Gene Lingerfelt always encourages the congregation to have accountability groups, and small groups with each other, to give God time to speak directly through other believers, and in doing so, you can more clearly understand his calling for your life.

God works through His word, and through the body of believers, in the local church. Pastor Gene Lingerfelt is always here to serve the church and Christ through teaching His word.

Pastor Gene Lingerfelt Teaches on Prayer

The New Year is the perfect time for resolutions. As we begin a new year, resolve to do the things that will take your life to a new level. One of the most important things you can do every day, besides spending time in the Word of God, is to spend time in prayer developing a personal relationship with God. And the best thing is to start every day with prayer. What better way is there to start your day?

“In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” -Psalm 5:3

Just like you might have a goal to work out and get in better shape, for goals to be realized they must be achievable. So just as you couldn’t start working out by working out several hours every day, don’t make unrealistic goals with prayer or any spiritual discipline. You might start by regularly praying 5 or 10 minutes every day for several weeks. Then, once you have done that successfully for awhile, you could then double your prayer time to 10 minutes or 20 minutes every day. Then later, you could again increase your daily prayer time to half an hour or an hour every day. The key is to be consistent. Doing the right things consistently is what will forever change your life for the better.

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” -Mark 11:24

Prayer works but for prayer to work in your life, you must learn what the Bible says about prayer, and then you must pray accordingly. There is a right way and a wrong way to pray.

Here at Faith Christian Center, we are starting the New Year off with a renewed commitment to focus on the things of God. This includes increasing our commitment to pray every day. Pastor Gene Lingerfelt believes that by living a life of prayer, you can connect to God on a deeper level, and build a relationship with the Lord that will last.

The best way to pray is according to the Word of God and the best thing to pray is by praying God’s Word. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German pastor and theologian during World War 2, taught his students to pray by teaching them to pray the Psalms.

If you will make a commitment to pray and if you will pray daily, along with spending time in God’s Word, your spiritual life will go to a new level in 2019.

The New Year is a time to renew your commitment to the Lord, and Dr. Gene Lingerfelt offers advice on how to do just that.

As we close out the holiday season and prepare to enter 2019, Faith Christian Center is blessed beyond measure when we look back at 2018 and everything the Lord has done. As Dr. Gene Lingerfelt looks forward to a new year, he wants to remind everyone at Faith Christian Center to renew their commitment to putting God first in the new year.

Jeremiah 29:13 tells us, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

“Remember during the new year that all you have to do is show up and turn your eyes towards the Lord and He will make himself known to you,” explained Dr. Gene Lingerfelt. “Make it a point to reset yourself with God on a daily basis during 2019.”

Every day, make time to connect with God through prayer and Bible study as well as fellowship with other believers. Faith Christian Center offers Bible study and regular services to keep you connected to God throughout the week.

Spending time in the Word of God and in prayer every day will strengthen your walk with God, and it will also give your life purpose and direction in the new year. We all know what it’s like to feel disconnected, and Dr. Gene Lingerfelt reminds Faith Christian Center to pursue a commitment to Christ on a daily basis to keep your connection with God strong all year long.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Pray Without Ceasing, Creating a Life of Constant Prayer and Thanksgiving to the Lord.

This will strengthen your walk with the Lord and it will help you to walk consistently with Him on a daily basis.  Meditate on the promises of God’s Word throughout the day. Keep a positive attitude. And in everything (not for everything) GIVE THANKS!  If you will do that, you will experience God’s goodness and favor like never before in 2019.

Prayer can be a constant source of strength and a great reminder that God is always with us.

Whatever your goals are this new year, make sure you are putting the Lord first. To learn more about the ministry of Dr. Gene Lingerfelt, connect with him today by clicking here.

Pastor Gene Lingerfelt Teaches on Missions

For more than three decades, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt has traveled the world, visiting many nations, preaching the Good News of the Gospel. Through Faith Christian Center’s various ministries and outreaches, more than 240,000 people have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, more than $9 million has been given away, and more than 68 churches have been pioneered.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20

Dr. Gene Lingerfelt and Faith Christian Center support missions work around the world and at home. The call to support missions and missionaries is part of God’s plan to reach the lost with the Good News of the Gospel. As Paul wrote to Timothy, a young man he trained for ministry, God wants all men and women to be saved. (2 Timothy 3:9) But as Paul also asks in Romans 10:14-15, “how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Indeed!

The book of Acts not only provides us with the history of the early Church, it also gives us a blueprint for Missions. Before He ascended into heaven, Jesus reminded the disciples that they should continue His work once they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. They were to then “go into all the world.” They had a mission to share the love of God and the Good News of the Gospel with everyone they came into contact with, carrying the Gospel to the uttermost ends of the earth. At Faith Christian Center, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt often teaches on the Great Commission. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 28, that we are not just to make believers or converts. Jesus actually commanded us to make disciples, teaching them to obey God’s commands. That is the focus and mission of Faith Christian Center in every service, every outreach, and every missions endeavor.

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” -2 Peter 3:9

Dr. Gene Lingerfelt teaches regularly that everyone who knows the kindness of Christ should share it with others. God wants the world to know about His Son. He has chosen us as individuals and as churches to share the Good News of the Gospel with others.

“God has not just called us to make believers or converts, He has called us to make disciples, teaching them to obey,” explains Dr. Gene Lingerfelt. “God has called us to do that, going into all the world preaching the Good News of the Gospel.”

At Faith Christian Center, we believe that as followers of Christ, we are to share the love and goodness of God with everyone we come into contact with. Every person deserves the opportunity to hear the Gospel at least once! As Paul says in Romans 10:15, “How beautiful–how precious–are the feet of those who bring good news!” Not everyone will accept the Gospel or believe, but as Christians, we must do our part and give everyone the opportunity to hear the Gospel at least once and to make that choice or decision.

Dr. Gene Lingerfelt would love to connect with you and to teach you how to practically apply the Bible to your everyday life. To do that and for more info, click here.

Throughout many years in ministry, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt continues to teach on the importance of discipleship and how it influences your walk with Jesus.

The word “doulos” translated from Greek means “bondservant,” and that’s exactly what we all are as followers of Jesus.  It’s important to understand how to follow Jesus and how to live the Christian life.

“Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God.” -Romans 1:1

Jesus calls each of His followers to be a disciple, following His commandments.  At Faith Christian Center, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt encourages each member of the church to become a doer of God’s Word, obeying the commands of God, as they live the Christian life.

Discipleship starts with following Christ and pursuing Him in your everyday life. Dr. Gene Lingerfelt encourages each member of the church to pursue discipleship in three unique ways: serving, community, and daily fellowship with the Lord..

Through serving, we enact the commands of Jesus, doing unto others as we would have them do unto us.

“But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind.” -Luke 14:13

Jesus also taught that whatever we do for “the least of these” we do for Jesus Himself. (Matt. 25:31-46)

Serving others enables you to be a blessing.  As Christians, we are to share Christ and the goodness and love of God in everything we do.

By building a Christ-like Community, we do two things: we honor God, and we model the Kingdom of God in our every day lives.  This is our witness to a lost and dying world, and this is how we live as salt and light. At Faith Christian Center, our goal is to exalt Christ and His Word.  As we grow and model our community after Him, we make this goal a daily reality. We practice Christian community through services, classes, and discipleship groups.  This enables members of the congregation to dig deeper into God’s Word.

When we ask we receive.  When we seek we find. When we knock, the door is opened unto us.  When you draw closer to God, He draws closer to you. This is why having a daily devotional time in your life is so important.  Pastor Gene Lingerfelt encourages each member of His congregation to have a daily devotional time and to make it a goal to spend one hour each day with the Lord.  If you will do that, you will draw closer to the Lord and you will more clearly hear His voice in your everyday life.

Learning how to be a disciple of Christ is a lifelong endeavor, and Dr. Gene Lingerfelt and Faith Christian Center are here to help you on your journey. To learn more, click here.

Pastor Gene Lingerfelt – Importance of Giving

The Holiday season is fully upon us which means family gatherings, time off work, travel, and shopping. In the midst of this flurry of activity, we must never forget that Jesus is the reason for the season.

We enjoy every blessing because of what Jesus did on our behalf more than 2,000 years ago.

At Faith Christian Center,  Pastor Gene Lingerfelt reminds us that in the midst of this busy season, we must pause and remember what Christmas is all about. We can celebrate Christmas because God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son. (John 3:16) And in remembering this and celebrating Christmas, we must remind ourselves that this is a season for giving. God loved and so He gave. We too should demonstrate our love by giving. As Pastor Gene Lingerfelt says often, “We are blessed to be a blessing!”

As you focus on the end of the year and all your preparations for time with family, take time to reflect on the goodness of God and all of His blessings in your life. Remember and thank God for all that He has done for you, your loved ones and your family.

We must never forget to “Give Thanks!”

And one way we “Give thanks,” demonstrating that we have an attitude of gratitude is by being a blessing to others. If you will ask the Lord to show you ways in which you can be a blessing and encouragement to others, He will. When He does, all you have to do is LISTEN to His still, small voice and then OBEY. LISTEN and OBEY. It truly is that simple. And the good news is when we obey and give, blessing others, God always replaces and multiplies whatever we give. This is why we can give joyfully with gratitude…it’s because we know we’ll be INCREASED, not diminished.

Look for ways to be a blessing and never forget that when we are a blessing to the least of these, we are being a blessing to Jesus Himself. (Matthew 25:40) During the Christmas season, while there are many who are so blessed, there are also many who face being alone or are confronting all kinds of challenges. This is why we must listen to the voice of God and why we should be looking for a way to be a blessing to others. We are the hands and feet of Jesus in a lost and hurting world.

During this holiday season, point people to God with your actions! Look for ways to be a blessing! Let’s shine like stars, being the light of the world, not just talking about God’s goodness but by demonstrating the goodness and love of God.

This is the example that Pastor Gene Lingerfelt and Sue have set for their congregation. In fact, every week, Faith Christian Center sends checks out to ministries whose specific focus is being a blessing to the poor and to the least of these.

We are BLESSED to be a BLESSING!

Join Pastor Gene Lingerfelt and Sue this holiday season at Faith Christian Center as we remember Christ, serve those in need, and celebrate all of the many blessings God has given us over the last year.

Dr. Gene Lingerfelt – Teaches Commitment

In this hour, more than ever before, commitment and faithfulness are needed in the Kingdom of God.

Commitment is defined as the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause or activity.  At Faith Christian Center, Pastor Gene Lingerfelt encourages us all to stay committed to Christ.  This commitment requires a daily commitment to God and His Word.

“I appeal to you, therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual act of worship.” – Romans 12:1

One important characteristic of commitment to Christ is pursuing holiness in our every day lives.  This requires a daily commitment as we seek to live by the Spirit, not by the flesh.  (See Galatians 5) We are to crucify the flesh and we are to live lives of discipleship whereby we follow Christ, living in obedience to God and His Word.  We should always be making progress in living life. As Paul tells us, we are to aim for perfection.  (2 Corinthians 13:11)

“…A faithful man who can find?”  – Proverbs 20:6

“As Christians committed to living the Christian life, your chief aim should always be to pursue a life that pleases God, which is a life of obedience to Him and His commandments,” says Pastor Gene Lingerfelt. “With a commitment to obedience, we make it our chief aim to live a life that is holy and pleasing to God.”

Holiness is described as being continually in God’s presence and being fully devoted to Him in every area of our lives.  When we live this way we live mindful and conscious of the fact that we are new creations in Christ and that the Spirit of God dwells in us.  The old has gone and the new has come. The old man or old woman is dead and we are now new creations in Christ Jesus! And we are to actually live like it in our everyday lives!

Growing closer to Christ requires separation from the world.  James reminds us that friendship (or compromise) with the world is, in fact, hatred toward God.  (James 4:4) This is why the Bible tell us to come out from the world and to live lives that are consecrated unto God.  (2 Corinthians 6:17) Living by the Spirit, not by the flesh, is a daily commitment.  And in times of temptation, you must rely on God’s strength.  Hebrews reminds us that Christ was tempted like we are, yet He did not sin. (Hebrews 4:15)  Because of that fact, Jesus by His Spirit and power can help us overcome any temptation or sin if we will live a consecrated life and ask for God’s power and help.

Separating from the world is never an easy task, but all things are possible with the help of God and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. (Philippians 4:13)  God wants us to overcome! He does not want us to live lives of defeat and struggle!

As we draw closer to beginning a new year, now is the time to become even more committed to living the life God has called you to live.  In these days, God is looking for faithful men and women.

The key is to be faithful and committed to God and His Word!

Pastor Gene Lingerfelt challenges his congregation at Faith Christian Center to remember the Apostle Paul’s encouragement to offer the entirety of your life to God.  When you do that, you truly make Jesus the Lord–the Master–of your life and in doing that you fully commit yourself to God, His Word, and to the pursuit of holiness.

Especially during the holidays, Pastor Gene Lingerfelt reminds us that now is the best time to live a life of commitment to Christ and to pursue holiness in all things.

Don’t wait until the new year to follow the Lord, start today. To learn more about Pastor Gene Lingerfelt and Faith Christian Center, click here.

Pastor Lingerfelt on Giving Thanks

This holiday season at Faith Christian Center, it’s important to reflect on what God has done in your life, the life of the church, and what God will do in this upcoming year.

Dr. Gene Lingerfelt and Sue are incredibly grateful for this season and they are looking forward to walking through this next year with the church family of Faith Christian Center.

Family

“He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly.” -Acts 10:2

From the beginning, God’s desire has been for us to love Him and for us to love each other. God’s plan from the beginning has been family. Life is not just about ourselves; it’s also about the next generation. That’s one reason God chose Abraham–He knew Abraham would command His children after Him to follow the ways of God (Genesis 18:19). This is why we are to live devout, God-fearing lives. Our children need to see us truly living the Christian life and this includes walking in love.

A family full of love and righteousness brings joy, not only to our heavenly Father but also to us. This holiday season put God first and prioritize your family. This is one way we honor God and His Word. Prioritize time with your family and teach them to love God and His Word. Experiencing this love is one of the greatest gifts God has given us.

Joshua understood the importance of this when he said, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15). Isaiah pointed out that this is the way but we must walk in it (Isaiah 30:21)! It won’t happen automatically!

The Lords Continued Work

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Dr. Gene Lingerfelt and Faith Christian Center are incredibly grateful this holiday season for the goodness of God in our lives and families. God loves you and He has a wonderful plan and purpose for your life! He wants you to experience His best in every area of your life! He has a plan, you just need to live it out by living your life in the light of God’s Word.

What a joy it is to know that as we walk together in this next season of life God will be joining us on this journey every single step of the way.

It’s important to remember that God will go before us, and if we trust in Him, He promises to give us a hope and a future, which is the best news as we head into another busy holiday season.

No matter where you are today, we all have so much to be grateful for, and Dr. Gene Lingerfelt and Sue cannot wait to celebrate with you at Faith Christian Center. To learn more about Dr. Lingerfelt and his ministry, connect with him here.

Dr. Gene Lingerfelt Walk by Faith

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” – 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV84)

Dr. Gene and Sue Lingerfelt have always chosen to follow God’s calling by trusting Him by faith over the last 3 decades both in their marriage and ministry. Faith Christian Center, a labor of love and the church Dr. Gene and Sue planted many years ago, exists with a very simple and clear mission; to lead people to faith in Christ and to then teach them how to practically apply the Bible in their every day lives.

As the founding minister and Faith Christian Center’s Senior Pastor, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt focuses on his passion, to practically teach the Bible in a relevant and meaningful way for each generation that attends Faith Christian Center and their thousands of congregants that join them online.

After earning his Master of Divinity from Texas Christian University, Pastor Gene Lingerfelt went on to get a Doctor of Ministry degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

With a strong calling from the Lord and 2 Corinthians in his heart, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt founded Faith Christian Center in a hotel ballroom with his wife Sue in 1984. As the church continued to grow they have moved buildings, but have never lost the direction the Lord set them on all those years ago.

For nearly 40 years, Faith Christian Center has taught the community how to apply the word of God in every day practical situations and the results have been nothing short of miraculous. Today, God has blessed Faith Christian Center with a beautiful campus situated on 73 beautiful acres in the heart of the city. At Faith Christian Center, they believe the Lord has called the congregation to live by faith and not sight, and truly believe the Lord’s promise that the best days are ahead of us. As we enter the busy holiday season, be reminded of where we’ve come from, and where we’re going, and the Lord’s promise that He will always be with us. No matter what life may throw at you, God will always be by your side, and we are excited to help you discover the plan God has designed for your life.
Through all of life’s challenges, one thing is certain—the unshakeable power of having Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. With Him, all things are truly possible!

Join us at Faith Christian Center, as you experience God’s presence in a new and life-changing way with powerful music and timely, practical messages.
