Today, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt is a successful, author, missionary, and pastor.  Over the course of 35 plus years of ministry, he has traveled across much of the globe in his work answering the call of God.  Dr. Lingerfelt is a graduate of both Texas Christian University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In this article, he looks back on his work and career to date.

“My story begins at the age of seventeen when I answered God’s call to go into full-time ministry,” reveals Dr. Lingerfelt.

Soon after, a young Gene Lingerfelt married his high school sweetheart, Sue, in 1976.  In the years that followed, both earned degrees from Texas Christian University and Dr. Lingerfelt would go on to earn his doctorate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.

In 1982-1983, Gene and Sue traveled to Kenya as missionaries, where Gene served as an instructor at the East Africa School of Theology in Nairobi, Kenya.  During this time, he preached in both Kenya and Tanzania.

“Following our return home from our first trip to Africa, we founded Faith Christian Center in 1984 in a hotel ballroom in North Arlington,” explains the pastor. Dr. Lingerfelt and his wife, Sue, also started a private Christian school in 1988 as a ministry of Faith Christian Center.  “The school has become one of the most important ministries of the church, especially in today’s culture; however, when we started the school in 1988, which was in the midst of a national and local recession, it was one of the hardest things we have ever done. We obeyed God, though, and He has been faithful and He has provided every step of the way.”

As the church and congregation grew, the church built its first building in 1988 on Interstate-30 not far from the current Dallas Cowboys stadium.  In the decade and a half that followed, the church continued to grow. In 2000, the church purchased land in South Arlington along US HWY 287. In 2006, the church moved to its new campus at US HWY 287 and Eden Road in Arlington.  Today, the church is located on a beautiful 73-acre campus in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

In the years following their first missionary trip, Dr. Gene and Sue Lingerfelt have subsequently traveled to more than 40 nations of the earth, preaching the good news of the Gospel.  They have also pioneered 68 churches in 9 different countries.

Dr. Lingerfelt is also a successful author and he has authored and co-authored many books and workbooks on success, prosperity, Christian living, prayer and marriage, and family.  His books include 10 Words That Can Change Your Life, The God Touch, 80-10-10: Everyman’s Road to Riches, and also a book on marriage he co-authored with his wife, Sue, entitled, You, Me & God.

After pioneering Faith Christian Center in a hotel ballroom over 3 decades ago, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt and his wife Sue have both been faithful to the call of God.  As a result, both have earned a reputation for faithfully teaching God’s Word in a practical manner. Dr. Gene and Sue are both successful and well respected in the community they pastor in.  They are also the proud parents of two grown-up children, who have many children of their own. An established pastor, author, and missionary, Faith Christian Center co-founder Dr. Gene Lingerfelt has enjoyed a recent series of publishing successes with “The God Touch,” “A Book of Prayer,” and “80-10-10: Everyman’s Road to Riches,” all of which are now available to purchase online and in select bookstores.

Reflecting on some of his favorite and best-received works, Dr. Lingerfelt takes a closer look at his current best-selling books and touches on “You, Me and God: The Threefold Cord is Not Easily Broken,” which is a book he also co-authored with his wife of more than 40 years, Sue Lingerfelt.

Perhaps the most well known of Dr. Lingerfelt’s books is titled “The God Touch: The Power of Partnership in Faith, Family, and Finances,” and one which the author calls “a very important work.”

“‘The God Touch,’” he reveals, “challenges readers to enter into an eternal covenant with God for a rewarding and productive life.”

Equally popular is “10 Words That Can Change Your Life,” as Dr. Lingerfelt explains. “This powerful volume tells readers how to apply ten specific life-changing words,” says the author and pastor, “in order to build and strengthen their self-esteem and relationships while also fostering great success through a combination of leadership and faith.”

Next, Dr. Lingerfelt turns to “A Book of Prayer,” another of his highly regarded works. “‘A Book of Prayer’ offers scriptures on prayer, healing, and prosperity, in addition to personalized daily scriptures taken from my own life,” he reveals. “Meanwhile, ‘80-10-10: Everyman’s Road to Riches,’” Dr. Lingerfelt goes on, “is a formula for handling the money which flows through all of our hands.”

He continues, “Within ‘80-10-10: Everyman’s Road to Riches,’ readers will discover a simple, yet profound strategy for a lifetime of personal fulfillment and financial success. If you make an unbreakable covenant with God to live the 80-10-10 life, I believe that you will receive the blessing, abundance, and favor God has promised.”

The popular author and much-loved pastor have also co-authored a successful book on marriage with his wife, Sue, entitled, “You, Me and God: The Threefold Cord is Not Easily Broken.”  Copies of “You, Me and God” are available by calling the church bookstore and cafe at 817-561-3433.

“‘You, Me and God: The Threefold Cord is Not Easily Broken’ was written and first published by my wife and me two decades ago now, back in the late 1990s,” reveals Dr. Lingerfelt.

“In the book, readers are taught how to enjoy a happy and loving marriage,” he explains. “They’ll discover how to launch and continue marital growth as they find out just how tightly God can bind them together, and how, based on principles found in His Word, every couple can achieve what God intended in marriage,” Dr. Lingerfelt continues. “And what is that?” he asks, rhetorically.

“A marriage like heaven on earth!” reveals the Faith Christian Center co-founder.

Dr. Gene Lingerfelt has also authored several further, equally successful works including “Money: A Spiritual Force,” “Prayer and Confession for 2018,” and “When We Were Poor.”

DR. GENE LINGERFELT REFLECTS ON DECADES-LONG GLOBAL MINISTERIAL JOURNEY

Dr. Gene Lingerfelt reflects on decades-long global ministerial journey
Pastor, missionary, and successful author Dr. Gene Lingerfelt looks back on 40 plus years of spreading God’s Word.

Traveling to more than 40 nations during more than four decades in ministry, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt has helped plant 68 churches in countries around the world. As the senior pastor and co-founder of Faith Christian Center in Arlington, Texas, Dr. Lingerfelt offers a closer look at his decades-long international ministry journey.

“My desire to travel the world spreading God’s Word began in the early 1980s when my wife, Sue, and I traveled to East Africa as missionaries,” reveals Dr. Lingerfelt.  At the time, he had already finished a master’s degree at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and Dr. Lingerfelt was working on completing his doctoral degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

After their time in Africa, together Gene and Sue then pioneered Faith Christian Center in Arlington, Texas.  Since then, Dr. Lingerfelt has become a successful author and pastor. Together, Pastors Gene and Sue have planted nearly 70 churches around the world since their first trip to Africa in 1982.

“For almost 40 years, it has been my life’s mission to teach people from all around the world how to practically apply God’s Word to their everyday lives,” reveals Dr. Lingerfelt. “It all started when my wife, Sue, and I traveled to Africa as missionaries from 1982 to 1983,” he continues, “where I served as an instructor at the East Africa School of Theology in Nairobi, Kenya.”

Closer to home, Dr. Gene and Sue Lingerfelt pioneered Faith Christian Center in a hotel ballroom in Arlington, Texas on January 1, 1985.  Since then, the church has grown and the church is now located on 73-beautiful acres in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Both locally and globally, Dr. Lingerfelt has also made a name for himself as a pastor to men.

According to the U.S. Congregational Life Survey, an average American congregation is typically less than 40 percent male, something which Dr. Lingerfelt believes needs to change. “Regardless of age or background, it can be difficult, as a pastor, to reach men in the community,” he explains, “but I believe that it’s vital that they understand that when they embrace God, they become unstoppable in life.”  “Many men are looking for a man–a man’s man–to pastor them. Being spiritual doesn’t mean being weak. To pastor men, pastors must be men and they must also be bold and confident.” “The key,” according to Dr. Lingerfelt, “is to fearlessly and boldly proclaim God’s Word without compromise.”

This is reflected in many of Dr. Lingerfelt’s books, including “10 Words That Can Change Your Life,” “80-10-10: Everyman’s Road to Riches,” and “Money: A Spiritual Force,” and also in courses of study such as, “Mighty Men of God” and “Spiritual Authority.”

“As a result, at Faith Christian Center today, we enjoy an almost unheard of, even split among men and women in our congregation, something which I’m extremely proud to have been able to achieve,” Dr. Lingerfelt adds.

Having co-founded Faith Christian Center in Arlington, Texas over three decades ago with his wife of more than 40 years, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt has earned a reputation as a successful, well-respected pastor. As an author, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt has also earned a reputation for his practical and relevant teachings, and for his work and success as a pastor to men in the community. Today, as the proud parents of two grown-up children, Gene and Sue Lingerfelt happily reside in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Dr. Gene Lingerfelt recalls first missionary trip to Africa

Dr. Gene LingerfeltDr. Gene Lingerfelt

Pastor Gene Lingerfelt looks back favorably on his first missionary trip to Africa with wife Sue over 35 years ago.

In 1982 and 1983, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt served as an instructor at the East Africa School of Theology in Nairobi, Kenya. The year and a half in Africa were a formative experience for Dr. Gene and his wife Sue.Dr. Lingerfelt gained extensive experience, speaking and ministering, during this time. This time also gave Dr. Gene and Sue a heart for all nations and all peoples. Since then, Dr. Lingerfelt has ministered and preached the Gospel in more than 40 nations and he has pioneered nearly 70 churches in Africa and Central America.

Based in Nairobi, Kenya, and whose main campus is located in Buruburu, the East Africa School of Theology today offers bachelor degrees in the arts, including religious, biblical, and intercultural studies, as well as a variety of other diplomas and certificates, plus pre-university programs and more. Buruburu can be found in the Eastlands area of Nairobi.

Upon returning to the United States from their missionary trip to Africa, Dr. Lingerfelt and wife Sue pioneered a Full-Gospel, Non-Denominational, faith church in Arlington, Texas that would eventually become Faith Christian Center. From its beginning, the church has been diverse, multi-ethnic and multi-racial. The church family is also made up of many mixed families. Sadly, even in 2019, many churches in America are still not diverse, but that is not true of Faith Christian Center. Visit Faith Christian Center on any Sunday and you will see the nations of the earth.

“The church was pioneered on Sunday, January 1, 1984 in a hotel ballroom,” according to Dr. Lingerfelt. Since then, the church has grown, and today, Faith Christian Center is located on a beautiful 73-acre campus in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

For more than 35 years, Dr. Gene and Sue Lingerfelt have taught people how to practically apply God’s Word to their every day lives. Today, both Dr. Gene and Sue are well-respected pastors with a reputation for integrity.

If you live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and are looking for a diverse, multi-ethnic and family-friendly church to attend where you will learn how to be a success in life, then visit Faith Christian Center.

Dr. Lingerfelt - Gender Gap Within Religion in America

Dr. Lingerfelt Takes a Closer Look at the Gender Gap Within Religion in America

Faith Christian Center co-founder and senior pastor Dr. Gene Lingerfelt explains more about the gender gap which currently exists within the American church.

Pastor Gene LingerfeltWith a gap of as much as 20 percent or more in the number of men and women who routinely attend church in the United States, Faith Christian Center co-founder and senior pastor Dr. Gene Lingerfelt takes a closer look at today’s so-called ‘gender gap’ within religion and explains more about his efforts to reach and pastor men in the community.

“In most churches, there are typically more women than men,” explains Dr. Lingerfelt.  “And it would seem, at least anecdotally, that women are more religious or spiritual than men, particularly among Christians.”  Dr. Lingerfelt, however, then explains why: “Men crave strong leadership. Men crave leaders like Joshua and Caleb in the Old Testament.  Men are not drawn to weak leadership.”

“In any church with a strong male leader, and bold, Biblical values, you will have men,” according to Dr. Lingerfelt.  “This goes against what is typical or common but it is possible.”

Pastor Gene Lingerfelt & American Pew Research Center

A study performed by the nonpartisan American ‘fact tank’ Pew Research Center found that, of those surveyed, 60 percent of women claimed that religion was ‘very important’ in their lives, while only 47 percent of men surveyed suggested the same.

“The same study also found that, in America, women are more likely to pray daily, at 64 percent versus less than 50 percent for men, and attend religious services on one or more occasions each week, with 40 percent of women surveyed suggesting that they did so, versus only 32 percent of men asked.”

The problem, however, is not men or that they are less spiritual.  “The problem,” according to Dr. Lingerfelt, “is a lack of strong male leadership and role models in today’s churches.”

The Pew Center’s findings are also closely echoed by the United States Congregational Life Survey, America’s largest system of church surveys. “The United States Congregational Life Survey has, again, found that an average American congregation is less than 40 percent male,” points out Dr. Lingerfelt.

In contrast to what is typical in the American church and religious culture, since its inception, Faith Christian Center has drawn men due to Dr. Lingerfelt’s strong leadership and his example as a positive male role model.  At any Sunday at Faith Christian Center, “You will see as many men as women,” explains Dr. Lingerfelt.

Dr. Lingerfelt also has a special ministry to men.  Several times a year, he has men’s Power Lunches, and every year he has a Father’s Day Guys Night Out.  Dr. Lingerfelt has also written books and workbooks specifically geared toward men, such as Mighty Men of God.  Dr. Lingerfelt is known as a man’s pastor.

“Reaching and pastoring men isn’t hard.  And men can be spiritual and can walk with God as mighty men of God in today’s world and culture.  They just need strong male leadership and positive, Biblical role models and examples,” according to Dr. Lingerfelt.

Dr. Lingerfelt also specializes in teaching men how to be a success.  There are many men at Faith Christian Center who had nothing and a net worth of less than $0 when they first started attending the church.  Today, they are successful, many have their own businesses, and some have become millionaires and multi-millionaires. “With the help of God, all things are possible,” according to Pastor Lingerfelt.

From “Spiritual Authority” to “Mighty Men of God,” Dr. Gene Lingerfelt has written a wide range of workbooks, courses of study, and additional books on faith, spirituality, success, and marriage. Dr. Lingerfelt is both an accomplished author and a beloved pastor. Today, he offers a closer look at his workbooks, courses of study, and other publications.

“I’ve written many workbooks and courses of study, including ‘Discipleship,’ ‘Mighty Men of God,’ and ‘Spiritual Authority,’” reveals Dr. Lingerfelt, co-founder of Faith Christian Center in Arlington, Texas.

“‘Spiritual Authority’ focuses on themes of honor, duty, and loyalty, which are all solely lacking today’s culture,” explains Dr. Lingerfelt “To walk in the blessings of God, believers must understand authority, how it works, and how they can properly honor authority and authority figures in their every day lives.” “Dishonor and rebellion always hinder and block the blessings of God!”

Dr. Lingerfelt’s newest workbook is on Christian discipleship and it is simply entitled, “Discipleship.” Another new workbook entitled, “Bridges of Faith,” will be available later in 2019.

“Mighty Men of God” is one of Dr. Lingerfelt’s most popular workbooks. It teaches men how to be the men God has called them to be in today’s culture.

In addition to his many workbooks, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt has also authored numerous books including, “A Book of Prayer,” “80-10-10: Everyman’s Road to Riches,” “10 Words That Can Change Your Life,” and “The God Touch: The Power of Partnership in Faith, Family and Finances.” “Any of these books if studied and implemented will dramatically change anyone’s life for the better! The KEY,” according to Dr. Lingerfelt, “is ACTION!”

Dr. Lingerfelt and his wife Sue Lingerfelt pioneered and co-founded Faith Christian Center in Arlington, Texas more than three decades ago in 1984. Both have degrees from Texas Christian University and Dr. Lingerfelt an earned doctorate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Today, Dr. Lingerfelt has a reputation for his practical and relevant teaching. Today, the Lingerfelts continue faithfully teaching and preaching the Word of God every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening at Faith Christian Center in Arlington, Texas.

Pastor Gene Lingerfelt

Dr. Gene Lingerfelt highlights success as a pastor to men

Faith Christian Center co-founder Dr. Gene Lingerfelt highlights the gender gap which exists within many of America’s churches.

Known for reaching—and for being a pastor to—men in the community, although rarely acknowledged, it is unusual, says Dr. Gene Lingerfelt, to have a church where there are as many men as women, as he reveals more about his success as a pastor to men.

“Regardless of age or background, it can be difficult, as a pastor, to reach men in the community,” explains Dr. Lingerfelt, co-founder of the Faith Christian Center in Arlington, Texas. “However, it’s vital that they understand—whether they’re a businessman or an outdoorsman, for example—that when they care about and embrace God, they become unstoppable in life, both in their personal and professional pursuits,” he adds.

According to Dr. Lingerfelt, across much of the United States, it’s highly unusual for a church to have as many men as women in attendance.

Indeed, the U.S. Congregational Life Survey—the nation’s largest system of church surveys whose mission is to help congregations understand themselves—has, in the past, found that an average American congregation is less than 40 percent male. “Average figures suggest that roughly 61 percent of congregations in the United States are female and just 39 percent male,” adds Dr. Gene Lingerfelt.

However, he points out, at the Faith Christian Center, things are rather different. “We have a fairly even split among our congregation,” Dr. Lingerfelt explains, “which is, as the U.S. Congregational Life Survey reveals, quite uncommon, and, as such, it’s something which I’m proud to have been able to achieve.”

Married life is also important to the church, according to the pastor, with Faith Christian Center actively supporting couples in strengthening their relationships at every step, whether they’re newlyweds or celebrating milestone, decades-long anniversaries.

In addition to his work as a pastor, Dr. Lingerfelt has also authored a number of successful books including ‘The God Touch: The Power of Partnership in Faith, Family and Finances,” “A Book of Prayer,” “10 Words That Can Change Your Life,” “’80-10-10: Everyman’s Road to Riches,” “Money: A Spiritual Force,” “Prayer and Confession for 2018,” and “When We Were Poor.”

Dr. Lingerfelt has also co-authored with his wife, Sue Lingerfelt, a successful book on marriage, entitled “You, Me and God: The Threefold Cord is Not Easily Broken.” Together, Dr. Gene and Sue founded Faith Christian Center in 1984 and St. Paul’s Preparatory Academy in 1988. The pair have also traveled to Africa as missionaries, stationed at the East Africa School of Theology, as well as a further 40 plus nations, establishing almost 70 new churches in 9 different countries.

Today, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt and his wife Sue Lingerfelt have been married for more than 40 years. Both are graduates of Texas Christian University and Dr. Lingerfelt is also a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. Together they happily reside in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and they co-pastor Faith Christian Center. As a pastor and author, Dr. Lingerfelt has a reputation for his practical and relevant teaching, and has further written numerous workbooks and courses of study, including “Mighty Men of God,” “Discipleship,” and “Spiritual Authority.”

Dr. Gene Lingerfelt and his wife Sue have been happily married for more than four decades.  Dr. Gene Lingerfelt is a successful author, highly-regarded pastor, and the founder of Faith Christian Center in Arlington, Texas.

In 1999, Dr. Lingerfelt and his wife Sue wrote and published, “You, Me and God,” to help married couples experience God’s best in their marriages and families.

Dr. Lingerfelt recently shared how “It’s hard to believe now that ‘You, Me and God’ was written two decades ago, back in 1999.”

“In the book, readers can learn how to enjoy a happy and loving marriage.” “They’ll also discover how every couple can achieve what God intended in marriage.”  According to Dr. Gene and Sue Lingerfelt, “The marriage relationship can be happy, loving, and positive, not negative.” Today, when the divorce rate is at an all-time high, married couples can learn how to succeed in marriage based on relationship principles from the Bible.  The key is not just to know those principles, but to implement and take action upon them. Dr. Lingerfelt shared recently, “The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result. Whether in marriage or any area of life, if you want things to change or improve, you must take action!”

“Marriage doesn’t have to be negative or destructive.  Marriage can be like heaven on earth,” according to Pastors Gene and Sue.

In addition to “You, Me and God,” Dr. Gene Lingerfelt has written an array of further books on similar topics. These include “The God Touch: The Power of Partnership in Faith, Family and Finances,” “A Book of Prayer,” “10 Words That Can Change Your Life,” “80-10-10: Everyman’s Road to Riches,” “Money: A Spiritual Force,” “Prayer and Confession for 2018” and “When We Were Poor,” all of which are available online.

A reviewer of “You, Me and God” points out that in this book, “Whether a marriage is flourishing or floundering, fellow readers will benefit from the insights of Dr. Gene and Sue Lingerfelt as they share real and practical ideas for making every marriage better.”

You may not realize it and you may not even believe it (YET!), but your marriage can be better!  According to Dr. Gene and Sue Lingerfelt, “Your marriage can become the marriage God intended! God wants you to have His best in every area of life, including in your marriage!  Your marriage can be a joy and a blessing, not a burden!”

Published by Harrison House on behalf of Gene Lingerfelt and Sue Lingerfelt, ‘You, Me and God: The Threefold Cord is Not Easily Broken’ (EAN: 9781577941668) is now out of print but may be available to buy from selected local book stores or online from independent booksellers or collectors.  Copies are also available by calling Faith Christian Center at 817-561-3400 and asking for the bookstore.

Today, Dr. Gene and Sue Lingerfelt have been married for more than 40 years.  Both are graduates of Texas Christian University and Dr. Lingerfelt also has an earned doctorate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.  Together, Dr. Gene and Sue founded Faith Christian Center in Arlington, Texas in 1984. They also founded St. Paul’s Preparatory Academy in 1988. Dr. Gene and Sue currently reside in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.  They have two grown children and many grandchildren. A well-respected pastor, having founded Faith Christian Center in Arlington, Texas over three decades ago, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt is also an accomplished writer and has published numerous books including “10 Words That Can Change Your Life” and “The God Touch.” Here, the popular author, having simultaneously enjoyed a higher calling as a much-loved pastor for more than 35 years, offers a closer look at his writing.

First published in 2013, Dr. Lingerfelt’s “Book of Prayer”’ is highly regarded, having achieved many five-star reviews in the years which have followed. “‘A Book of Prayer’ offers scriptures on prayer, healing, and prosperity,” explains author and pastor Dr. Lingerfelt, “in addition to personalized daily scriptures taken from my own life.”  When it comes to prayer, many Christians don’t know how to pray or what to pray. According to Dr. Lingerfelt, “the most powerful thing any believer can pray is God’s Word.” Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the German pastor, and theologian during World War II, taught his students that they could learn to pray by praying the Psalms. “A Book of Prayer” provides believers with key passages to pray on the subjects of prayer, healing and health, prosperity, marriage and family, and success in life.

In 2014, Dr. Lingerfelt published “10 Words That Can Change Your Life.”  “This powerful volume tells readers how to apply ten specific life-changing words to build and strengthen their self-esteem and relationships while also fostering success through a combination of leadership and faith,” reveals the author.

Based on his own personal experiences, Dr. Lingerfelt provides what he calls “sure-fire strategies for exceptional levels of achievement” in “10 Words.”  God wants His children to be a success in every area of life, but many believers don’t know the practical ingredients that will bring success. They can learn these practical ingredients in “10 Words.”

In “10 Words,” “readers can also learn the dynamic power of initiative while discovering the wellsprings of determination and commitment, and the keys to turning vision into reality,” explains Dr. Lingerfelt. “The book also reveals how personal resolve is able to produce amazing results and how apathy can be turned into action in any situation.”

Another of Dr. Lingerfelt’s five-star-rated books, “80-10-10: Everyman’s Road to Riches,” provides a Bible-based formula for handling the money which flows through your hands. In “80-10-10,” “Readers can discover a simple, yet profound strategy for a lifetime of personal fulfillment and financial success,” writes Dr. Lingerfelt. Any individual who chooses to make a “covenant with God to live the 80-10-10 life” will discover “the blessing, abundance, and favor God has promised.”
